This example of the iconography of an elder man (which we have given the title huehue) is included here for the purpose of comparing similar glyphic elements. This man, labeled as a viejo (old man) in Spanish, is shown in profile, facing toward the viewer's right. He has lines on his face. His hair is white and wispy. He wears what is probably a white cotton cape.

The contextualizing image shows the complement of this viejo in the vieja of the upper right corner. In Nahuatl, she would be called an ilamatl. Other examples of elder men also appear below.
