huehue (TR26r)

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This element for elder (huehue) has been carved from the compound glyph for the place name Huehuetepec. This atomized part shows a seated male figure in profile, facing toward the viewer's right. He is nude or perhaps wearing a loincloth that is not visible. His knees are up. His right hand is in his lap. His left hand is up by his head. He has some lines on his cheek and forehead that suggest he is elderly. His eye and his mouth are both open.
