This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Ichpochi.. (“Maiden?”--attested here as a man’s name) shows a young woman's head in profile, looking toward the viewer's right. We know she is young because her hair is long and hanging down her back. (In the sedentary central areas, a woman's hair would be twisted up or braided, with the hair ends coming up above her forehead.)

The term for maiden or young woman is actually "ichpochtli." The ending to this name remains a question. As a baby, did his parents see him as girl-like? Did he respond more to the females in his household? Was he imagined to become a girl chaser? Was he intersexed?
