This element for clouds [mixtli has been carved from the compound sign for the personal name, Mixcoatl. This is a black line drawing of a cluster of cloud segments (apparently in the sky), left natural inside the lines. The clouds in this example have small hash marks, slightly curved, perhaps meant to give the clouds a three-dimensional effect.
