tepetl (Mdz42r)
Element from a Compound

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This element showing a hill or mountain (tepetl) has been carved from the compound sign for the place name, Tepeyacac. It has the typical bell shape and the usual two-tone green, with the horizontal red and yellow stripes at the base. The rocky outcroppings on the right hand side are lower than usual because the artist had moved them to accommodate the nose on the slope on the right side (which we carved away when preparing this element for its own separate entry).
