Tepoztitlan (Mdz40v)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This is a painting of the simplex glyph for the place name Tepoztitlan. It shows an ax or hatchet with a terracotta-colored wooden handle and a (probably copper, tepoztli) blade. The blade tip comes out the back of the handle. The front of the blade (on the viewer's right) is almost a triangle, but it flares at the outer edge.
