Toltecatl (MH616r)

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name or ethnicity Toltecatl ("resident of Tollan") shows a horizontal tule (tollin) plant with two leaves and perhaps a cattail at the right end. At the left end there may be a human hand grasping the plant, or perhaps that is the base of the plant.

Added Analysis:

The Nahuas viewed their ancestors, the Toltecs, as skilled artisans. If this person is not named for the illustrious ancestors, then he may actually come from Tollan (which came to be called Tula).
