Tecuachcauhtli (MH510v)
This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name (or title), here attested as male, shows the diadem (xiuhhuitzolli) that is emblematic for the term for lord (tecuhtli). The diadem is shown in profile, facing to the viewer's left. It has a tie at the back, a fringe at the top, and a diagonal criss-cross pattern on the main piece. This glyph only provides the start to the name or title, Tecu-. The remainder is not shown visually.
Stephanie Wood
The gloss provides the fuller intention of this glyph, where the visuals are lacking. See our dictionary entries for the elements of the term and their relative meaning.
