At the left end there may be a human hand grasping the plant, or perhaps that is the base of the plant.

The Nahuas viewed their ancestors, the Toltecs, as skilled artisans. If this person is not named for the illustrious ancestors, then he may actually come from Tollan (which came to be called Tula).
