Mazayecuel (MH662r)

Mazayecuel (MH662r)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Mazayecuel (perhaps “Come On, Quickly”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows an upright (right) hand (maitl). The forearm below the hand is wavy or curving. The hand seems to play a phonetic role, indicating that the name starts with “Ma-.” How the curvy arm comes into play is unclear.

Added Analysis:

The particles ma (let), za (just), ye (already), and cuel (quickly) will all appear on their own, as well as in combination. Translating a string like this in any exact way is tricky.
