Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the place name Apapaztlan (perhaps “Near the Large Basin”) is attested here as a place name. The glyph shows a body of water that has five points, something like a starfish, but it is filled with lines of current (movement) and it is painted turquoise blue. At the tip of each of the five points is a droplet consisting of small concentric circles. At the very center of the body of water is a swirl. The locative suffix (-tlan) is not shown visually.
