This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name or status, Cocoliztli ("Illness," attested here as a man's name), shows the head of a man in profile, facing toward the viewer's right. He has spots on his face and his hair is tousled. A couple of additional spots or dots are seen in the air above the ill person's nose. His eye is open, as is his mouth.
