Cuenpa (MH669r)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Cuenpa (“Toward the Furrows”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows a bird’s eye view of a rectangle with four white horizontal stripes delineated with black lines. These stripes must be furrows (cuemitl). The -pa suffix (toward) is not shown visually.

Added Analysis:

This name is reminiscent of the term milpa (toward the small agricultural field, milli). It has both a similar construction and a similar meaning. Note how some glyphs or milli signs (below) have lines that suggest furrows.
