This black and white painting of the simplex glyph for the personal name Ixtli ("Eye") is attested here as a man's name. It shows a fairly round eye with a black pupil. The upper lid is somewhat evolved from the stellar or starry eye of the Codex Mendoza of nearly two decades earlier.
