Notation

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This notation for the number twelve (matlactli omome) from the Codex Quetzalecatzin top has five (macuilli) ones. Connecting with this is another grouping in a vertical row running down the left wide with another five (macuilli) ones. Finally, in line with this vertical grouping but below it and separated by a space, are two (ome) more ones. This gap might represent the numeric ligature (-on- or -om-). The coloring of the circles involves red, yellow, and white.

Added Analysis:

The three colors of red, yellow, and white for the counters (ones) are used fairly regularly in this manuscript. The reading order required further study. Of course, these colors are echoed in the colors of maize and in cardinal directions.
