Tepixqui (MH638r)
This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name or occupation, Tepixqui (tribute collector), shows a horizontal stone (tetl) with the usual curling ends and alternating horizontal stripes of dark and light. The stone provides the phonetic indicator for the start of the name, Te-. The -pixqui part of the name, not shown visually, has the root "pia" (to have, keep, or guard), which refers to the collection of the tribute items in kind.
