Element from a Compound

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This element for tlachtli (ball court) has been carved from the compound sign for the place name, Tlachquiyauhco. The court has the shape of a capital letter I on its side. It has two rings (goals for the ball) on the inside at the middle. The four colors of the court are: yellow on the upper left, turquoise-blue on the upper right, dark green on the lower left, and red on the lower right. The colors vary from court to court, but they are worthy of further study.
