Glyph or Iconographic Image Description: 

This simplex glyph of maize kernels (tlaolli) in a basket doubles as the place name Tlaollan ("Near the Dried Maize Kernels"). The yellow basket is contextual; it is woven from reeds. The corn kernels are drawn in black ink and left uncolored, natural. What is probably the germ of the seed is singled out at the bottom of each kernel, which serves as a distinguishing feature, along with the shape of the kernels. These maize kernels are included in the Codex Mendoza as a tribute item.
