This black-line drawing of the element ehuatl (hide) has been taken from the personal name glyph, Totolehuatl (see below). The hide has an irregular perimeter, probably as it had been cut off the animal. It has hash marks that show it has not yet been tanned; it still is a hide and not a piece of leather.
