This black-line drawing of the element tlatoa (to speak) has been taken from the compound personal name glyph, Tlatlacol (see below). The element is a set of teeth in profile. The mouth is somewhat open, as though the person is speaking. Sometimes, speaking glyphs employ speech scrolls, but not here.
