Caltetzotzoyotl (MH810v)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Caltetzotzoyotl (perhaps “Foundational”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows a frontal view of a classic house or building (calli). The entry way is framed with a horizontal lintel and two upright supports. Everything is white except the bases of the two upright supports have a dark color on the lower third. Below the house, and connected to it by two vertical lines, is a small animal. Not seeming to have anything to do with construction, the (as yet unidentified) animal may play a phonetic role.
