Iczotl Iyacac (CQ)
This simplex glyph of an iczotl bush stands for the place name Iczotl Iyacac (perhaps the "Point of the Yucca"). This plant is tall with a long brown trunk, some lighter brown or golden fronds hanging down, and nearly a dozen green fronts standing upright.

The yucca plant here has a little shading on its trunk and some shading in toward the base of its fronds, giving it a three-dimensional look. The point of a yucca leaf could be very sharp. Perhaps it had a use in perforating skin for bloodletting purposes. Also, some textiles were made from yucca fiber. Comparing this yucca with the one, below, from the Codex Mendoza, we see that both have a signature fringe of old leaves hanging down the trunk.
