Tenitz (MH871v)

Tenitz (MH871v)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Tenitz (perhaps “Sharp Blade Edge” or “Black Tern”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows a man’s face in profile, facing toward the viewer’s right. Touching his lips is a thin, vertical obsidian blade. This name may be literal, referring to the sharp edge of the blade, or it may be a phonetic rendering of the bird name.

Added Analysis:

Until one can be sure this is a bird name or a sharp edge, we cannot assess whether the compound is fully phonographic or fully logographic.
