Tepalxochitl (MH760r)

Tepalxochitl (MH760r)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Tepalxochitl (perhaps, a "Flower By Way of Someone") is attested here as a woman's name. It shows an upright flower (xochitl) with four petals at the top and a tripartite base at the bottom. The flower stands atop a horizontal stone (tetl) with curly ends and diagonal stripes that alternate light and dark. The stone is a phonetic indicator for the Te- start to the name.
