tonalli (MH544v)

tonalli (MH544v)
Element from a Compound

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the tonalli (day, sun, solar personal animating force) element of the compound personal name Atonal has a quincunx shape, something like a flower with four petals with a short stick (ray of the sun?) between each one. Each petal also has a small circle in the center, and a fifth small circle appears at the place where the four petals come together. These small circles keep the eye moving around the glyph, seemingly adding shimmer or movement
