Tototepec (Mdz13r)
This colorful compound glyph for the place name Tototepec ("Bird Mountain" or "Bird Hill") shows a two-toned green, bell-shaped sign for mountain or hill (tepetl). At the base of the hill are two horizontal lines, red and yellow, that point to the spot where a spring might emit water. On top of the hill stands a bird in profile, facing left, with its wings raised somewhat. The locative suffix (-c) (as given in the gloss) is not shown visually, but it combines with -tepe- to form -tepec, a visual locative suffix meaning "on the hill" or "on the mountain."
