Tzoncol (MH486v)
This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Tzoncol (here, attested as a man's name) shows a lock of hair or ponytail (tzontli) worn at the top of the head by warriors and priests. It has a bend (colli) to it, leaning toward the viewer's left.
Stephanie Wood
The name Tzoncol might have been a literal reference to a baby's curly hair, or, if it had another meaning, the compound could be fully phonetic.
