tlantli (CM18)
This elements has been carved from the place name Tollan in the Codex Mexicanus. It shows teeth (tlantli), which provide the phonetic value for the locative suffix -tlan. Here, we see four white teech set in dark pink gums that appear below the teeth, suggesting that their location is on the lower jaw.

This orientation of the teeth in the lower jaw is somewhat different from many other visuals for the phonetic element -tlan in a wide range of codices. Furthermore, four is twice the standard number for showing front teeth. But we also do see upper and lower teeth together in some examples.
