Motecuhzoma (MH784r)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black, white, and red drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Motecuhzoma is attested here as a man's name. The -tecuh- part of the name is provided by the diadem, which is a triangular shape with a black mesh and red trim that ties in the back of the head. The diadem is a xiuhhuitzolli, but it regularly appears as a glyph for tecuhtli, lord. The mo- (reflexive) and -zoma (to be angry) parts of the name are not shown visually.
