Cocoliloc (MH727v)

Cocoliloc (MH727v)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Cocoliloc ("One Who is Hated") is attested here as a man’s name. It shows a hand-held, obsidian-blade-studded club right at the throat of a nearly nude man (wearing just a loincloth) in a prone position stomach facing downward. His head is up somewhat, and he looks toward the viewer’s left. The head is shown in profile, facing toward the viewer's right. The threatened person reaches with his left hand and arm toward the club, perhaps to try to block the blow.

Added Analysis:

This glyph is somewhat reminiscent of some of the glyphs for Cocol, where a man's hair is being pulled, suggesting a quarrel and perhaps also hatred. See below.
