Caltepec (Mdz16r)

Caltepec (Mdz16r)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This compound glyph for the place name Caltepec includes two prominent features, a house or building (calli) and a hill or mountain (tepetl). The house is white with a t-shaped terracotta beam complex shown in profile, with the building facing to the viewer's left. The hill is a standard bell shape, painted a two-tone green with a yellow and a red horizontal stripe at its base. The locative suffix (-c) is not shown visually, but it combines with -tepe- to form -tepec, a visual locative suffix meaning "on the hill" or "on the mountain."
