Tepalca (MH699r)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Tepalca ("One Who Lives in the Home of Another," here, attested as a man’s name) shows a building in profile facing toward the viewer’s right. It has a substantial foundation. T-shaped red beams frame the entrance to the building. A person's head appears inside this building, also in profile, and also looking toward the viewer's right.

Added Analysis:

We have a few examples of the adverb Tepal- in this collection and at least two other examples of the name or status, Tepalca. Tepalca appears in the vocabulary of Alonso de Molina without a final "n," so perhaps the "n" that is indicated on the gloss is intrusive.
