This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Tlapaltecciz (“Red Conch”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows a frontal view of a vertical red (tlapalli) conch shell (tecciztli). A creature (with a head and waving arms) is half-way out of the shell near the top.
