Tlazoxiuhcatl (MH873v)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Tlazoxxiuhcatl (perhaps “Person from Tlazoxiuhco”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows what appear to be two triangular turquoise pieces (tesserae). Above these are what appear to be four quetzalli (quetzal feathers), which have a gree-blue (-xiuh-) color as does turquoise. Both quetzal feathers and turquoise are items of preciosity. The -catl affiliation suffix is not shown visually.
