tocatinemi (Osu13r)
Iconography

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This painting from the Codex Osuna, folio 13 recto (or Image 28), shows two men, one Nahua and one Spaniard. We are including this example of iconography to provide for comparisons with hieroglyphs. This exemplifies the verb tocatinemi, to accompany someone older, according to the translation by Alonso de Molina. The Nahua man is a topile (constable), who is apparently following the Spanish nahuatlato (interpreter), perhaps to help him with the work of interpreting.
