Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This compound glyph for the place name Huaxtepec features a tropical tree with edible pods (huaxin) on top of a hill or mountain (tepetl). The tree, colored a light terracotta, has a leader and two side branches. Each branch has two-tone green foliage. Emerging from the green foliage of each branch are two or three long red seed pods. The locative suffix (-c) (as given in the gloss) is not shown visually, but it combines with -tepe- to form -tepec, a visual locative suffix meaning "on the hill" or "on the mountain."
