Chichimecatl (MH784v)
This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal/ethnic name Chichimecatl ("A Chichimec") is attested here as a man's name. The glyph is a bow (on the left) and arrow (perpendicular to the bow and ready to fire, pointing toward the viewer's right. The arrow point has two barbs. This is a semantic indicator for the semi-sedentary people of the North who hunted and fought with bows and arrows.

Another recurring feature identified with Chichimecs is the face paint or tattooing across the cheek, involving criss-crossing lines.
See John Montgomery's drawing of a Chichimec conversing with a Toltec taken from the Mapa Quinatzin. The Chichimec is the one with the bow and arrows and wearing a hide cape. His hair is long and shaggy.
