Challi (MH775v)

Challi (MH775v)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name, Challi ("Jade" or "Introduced"), is attested here as a man's name. It is the same sign as (chalchihuitl), which also means jade. The sign consists here of five circles--a large one in the middle and four smaller ones radiating around the big one. The large one has a tiny circle in the middle of it, making it look like a jade bead. Interspersed around and between the four perimeter circles are dots, which add a radiance to the gem.

Added Analysis:

If the person’s name is not meant to be jade/green stone, then perhaps these visuals are phonetic indicators for the verb chalia, to introduce or inaugurate.
