Cihuayec (MH742r)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Cihuayec (perhaps “Woman-Good,” or clean, pure, virtuous, etc.) is attested here as a woman’s name. It shows the head of a women in profile, facing toward the viewer’s right. Her head sits on a horizontal, rectangular, foundation. The woman’s hair is a partial neaxtlahualli style, but the hair on the top of her head is rather more feathery. How the rectangle enters into the name has yet to be deciphered.
