Notation

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the notation representing the number 200 (10 x 20) shows a vertical, rectangular flag (perhaps of paper or cloth) that is attached to what may be a wooden pole. The flag or banner represents the number twenty (-tecpantli). Below the flag and connected to it by a short line is a diamond shape that represents the number ten. The lines of the diamond have a slight inward curve and the points of the diamond are slightly extended. As the contextualizing image shows, this number is part of a larger count of nobles.
