Pilnenemi (MH836r)

Pilnenemi (MH836r)
Simplex Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the simplex glyph for the personal name Pilnenemi (perhaps “He Goes About as a Nobleman”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows the lower leg and foot (to represent going about, nenemi). The sandal on the foot has a special design that may suggest he is a noble. Many people went barefooted, and he not only has a sandal, but a decorated one.

Added Analysis:

The flower on the sandal has some iconographic overlap with the glyph associated with Cuilol (MH520r), Texauhqui (MH603v), the tonalpohualli (see tlacuiloliztli, TR30r), and tonalli (see MH544v).
