Mocalitzoman (MH527r)

Mocalitzoman (MH527r)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Mocalitzoman (here, attested as a man’s name) shows a frontal view of a building or house (calli), represented by the wooden beams framing the entrance. The roof, which is unusual with its thatching or planks and three short curving lines at front and center, may call to mind "hair" (tzontli) for the building. The start of the name, Mo-, which seems to be a second person singular possessive pronoun ("Your"), is not represented visually, nor is the third-person singular possessor pronoun, -i-. The -man suffix (perhaps from mani, to be located, to extend, does not appear visually. As a suffix, -mani (often shortened to -man) can also mean "in the manner of."

Added Analysis:

Once again, this is a name that appears to begin with "Your," perhaps here with the effect of "Your House's Hair Extends Out" or "In the Manner of Your House's Hair." For other examples of the "Your" pronoun at the start of a name, see below. Sometimes the Mo- start to a name is actually a reflexive pronoun added to a verb.
