Teixconehui (MH811v)

Teixconehui (MH811v)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This black-line drawing of the compound glyph for the personal name Teixconehui (perhaps “He Is Out of Control”) is attested here as a man’s name. The glyph shows the head of a man in profile, facing toward the viewer’s right. A small foot with part of a leg also appears in such a way as to block our view of the person’s eye and ear. How the foot enters into the meaning of teixconehui is unclear, unless it is a close homophone for the -ixco- part of the verb.

Added Analysis:

This glyph is very much like the glyph for Teixconemi (perhaps "to be rude and distrespectful"), which is found in the same manuscript but on folio 815 recto. The verb teixconehui does not appear in the early dictionaries, only teixconehua and ixconehua (see our dictionary entry here), so the translation may require adjustment.
