Temazcaltepec (CQ)
Compound Glyph

Glyph or Iconographic Image Description:

This compound glyph represents the place name Temazcaltepec ("On Steam Bath Hill"). It has two main features. One is a building that houses a steam bath (temazcalli). It is a simple, white frontal-facing calli. The other feature is a greenish-brown hill or mountain (tepetl) that barely resembles the tepetl glyph, seemingly evolving toward a landscape painting. The locative suffix (-tepec, "on the hill") is incorporated with the tepetl.
